Rules and Guidelines
IMPORTANT: These rules can and will change as needed. We will attempt to provide ample warning about changes, but it is expected that forum members check this page for changes on a semi-frequent basis.

About this forum:

- Our goal is to provide a place for mature, intelligent, and friendly discussion on a wide variety of topics while still maintaining a fun atmosphere.

About the Moderators/Administrative Staff:

- Admins have the right to edit/remove posts, threads, signatures, and avatars for any reason, but please note that this will usually only be done when necessary; for example, if a post goes against the rules listed below.

- Administrators reserve the right to ban or restrict access to anyone at any time for any reason, but please note that this will usually only be in the most extreme of circumstances, most likely after repeated requests to cease and desist offending behavior go ignored.

- The moderators and administraors have been chosen based on availability and responsibility. In addition, mods of the topical forums were also chosen based on knowledge or appropriate interest in the subject matter and willingness and creativity to improve the forums they are in charge of. Their role is to be leaders of discussion, but they also reserve the right to edit/remove posts or threads if needed.

- You don't have to like the decisions of moderators/admins, but give them some respect, as they have been appointed to make the forum more enjoyable for everyone. If you feel that a moderator is not performing his/her job correctly, please inform an admin, and try to make a good case by being specific about your complaint if possible.

General forum rules:

- All users need to provide a valid e-mail address when registering for the forum. Please note that your email address will be kept private and will not be given or sold to anyone for any reason, so no need to worry about spam.

- Swearing in posts, signatures, or anything other than private conversation is NOT ALLOWED. If you break this rule you will be warned. If you break it again you get banned for a week.

- If you are a new user, please post up and let us know that you are here. We try to keep an active community and need to know who is around.

- If the thread starter requests that a thread be kept serious, please adhere to his/her wishes. Thread starters hold a certain level of ownership over their threads. If a member asks to have his/her thread closed, it will be done with no questions asked.

- Stay away from "welcome to last week"-type posts. Complaining about a repost falls into this category as well.

- Please try to refrain from excessive hostility and stupidity.

- Harassment of other users, including but not limited to stalking; sharing of personal info, such as name, address or telephone number, without express permission (regardless of whether or not such information is publicly available on the Internet); and personal threats, WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and will result in your permanent removal from forum.

- Try to post your topics in the most appropriate forum. Topics may be moved at the discretion of a moderator or admin.

- We know people are going to spam, and that's OK. But if a thread is mind-numbingly stupid and not funny in the least, know that it will probably get removed.

- Necroposting is frowned upon, unless you have relavent information. As a forum we feel that anything over 2 months old is a necropost. Please check the dates of the thread before posting.

- This is an English-speaking forum. Non-English posts will be removed.

Image Posting:

- Do not post pictures from webspace that is not yours (also known as "bandwidth theft"). Use the image attachment feature, or use the gallery.

- We do not currently allow pornography of any sort on the board.

- No obnoxiously large images for the sole purpose of breaking the forum tables. Large images are OK, but expect to be yelled at by other forum members if you don't resize your images before posting.

- No goatse, tubgirl, and similar images, anywhere. Period.

Avatars:

- Avatars may be added by uploading them to your own webspace or by adding them directly from your local machine. It is recommended to add them from your machine so that they are stored on our server. This way, if the avatar is inaccessible for some reason on your own hosting, it won't turn into a red X.

- Avatars can be a maximum of 200x200 and 45K.

- Animated avatars are fine, but please refrain from flashing "seizure" avatars.

- The no goatse/tubgirl, etc. rule also applies to avatars. Also, no pornography. You will be asked to change your avatar if necessary, and if you don't comply, we'll simply remove it for you.

Signatures and sig images:

- We reserve the right to revoke sig images if necessary, so please use them somewhat responsibly.

- Please keep both signatures and sig images to a reasonable size. You will receive a friendly request to change your sig/sig image size if needed. If this proves to be too difficult for you, we'll remove it for you if needed.

- Refrain from using flashing/seizure sig images so that people don't get pissed off.
